Almost a fifth of people asked, including young people aged 16 - 24, named reality TV as the worst invention ever. Capital punishment and plastic bags also made it into the top five clangers.
The wheel was chosen as the best innovation and the internet came in at number two. Penicillin and women's rights were also in the top five. Leonardo da Vinci was named as the person in history who was responsible for the best ideas.
What do you think are the best and worst inventions? What invention could you not live without? Who has been responsible for the greatest ideas in history?

I reckon we should do our own poll, and see what we all come up with.
The best invention poll on entertainment
Commenting on some of my votes:
Writing was obvious, it allowed us to transfer knowledge accurately from generation to generation.
Internal Combustion Engine, flight, cars, you name it, the world is a small place today because of this... of course there is the whole global warming thing, so we may well see this one up the list in the worst inventions...

Actually i voted for television as well in general, i reckon it's taken a major chunk out of society, productivity and worst of all parties!!
oh and miniature dogs... i cannot handle those bread to be cute little yap yap dogs a german shepard now that's a real dog, intelligent, strong and loyal...
I couldn't live without my laptop (such a geek) and i reckon the person responsible for the most inventions/ greatest ideas is Thomas Edison... i think, but stand to be corrected that he also has the highest number of patents as well!!
