A substantial nine-hundred-hectare urban forest covering the principal Monsanto hilltop and the western slopes of the wider central Lisbon hillside, the Parque Florestal de Monsanto is the largest single urban park anywhere in central Portugal and accounts for approximately ten per cent of the entire municipal area of Lisbon.
