18 Candleriggs

Set in a converted unit in Glasgow's Merchant City, 18 Candleriggs is a cabaret restaurant and lounge bar that combines dining and drinks with a programme of live entertainment. The room operates as a dinner-and-show venue, pairing food and cocktails with cabaret, burlesque, drag, comedy and live music across its weekly listings rather than functioning as a straightforward pub. The premises previously traded as Wild Cabaret, and the current operation continues in much the same vein, using a sta.....

1990

Opened in August 2025 in the former premises of the long-running club Broadcast, the bar known as 1990 occupies 427 Sauchiehall Street in central Glasgow. It combines a ground- and first-floor bar with a basement live-music room, reviving as a drinking-and-gig venue a site that had been a fixture of the street's alternative scene for years. The building runs over several levels: a basement space holds a stage and standing room for small gigs, while the bar areas above accommodate a larger crowd.....

ARTA

Set across three floors of a former cheese market in Glasgow's Merchant City, Arta is a Mediterranean-themed venue that combines a tapas restaurant, a candlelit cocktail bar styled after a Spanish hacienda, and a late-night club called Canvas that runs to 3am at weekends. The building's historic bones have been reworked into a deliberately theatrical, artwork-laden space, with private rooms such as the Red Room and a Spanish-style courtyard used for weddings, corporate events and parties. Salsa.....

Audio

Audio is a small independent live music venue and club tucked into the railway arches beneath Glasgow Central Station, at 14 Midland Street in the city centre. The space was previously home to the long-running rock venue Rockers, and when it was relaunched as Audio in 2011 it kept the cavernous, low-ceilinged feel and the strong acoustics that made the arches a natural fit for loud, guitar-driven music. With a capacity of around 150, it is firmly a grassroots room where touring and emerging acts.....

Babbity Bowster

Babbity Bowster is a pub, restaurant, and small hotel at 16-18 Blackfriars Street in Glasgow's Merchant City. It occupies a five-bay Georgian town house built around 1794 and attributed to the architects Robert and James Adam, the last surviving fragment of a terrace the Adam brothers planned for the area. After years as a warehouse and a long period of dereliction - reduced at one point to a roofless shell - the building was rescued and restored by the Edinburgh architect Nicholas Groves-Raines.....

Barras Art And Design (BAaD)

Set inside a glass-roofed courtyard in the historic Barras Market, Barras Art and Design - universally shortened to BAaD - is a multipurpose events, food, and drink venue at 54 Calton Entry in Glasgow's East End. The site brings together a covered central courtyard used as the main event space, a restaurant, a bar, a planted beer garden, and a sun-trapped container yard, all within one of the city's most characterful market districts. The building began life as the Barras Centre, a dysfunctiona.....

Blackfriars Of Bell Street

On Bell Street in Glasgow's Merchant City, Blackfriars is a traditional pub best known for two things: a frequently changing range of cask ales and a basement that doubles as a live music and comedy venue. The main bar pours Scottish and guest ales from breweries such as Harviestoun and Stewart, alongside a wide choice of bottled and craft beers. Downstairs, the low-ceilinged cellar hosts live bands, club sessions and stand-up, giving the pub a reputation as a music venue as much as a drinking .....

Blue Dog

A New York-style piano bar that opened in 2003, Blue Dog sits on West George Street in central Glasgow and has built its reputation on cocktails and live music. A baby grand piano anchors the room, and live performances -- jazz, blues and lounge sets from guest pianists and singers -- run every evening from Tuesday to Sunday. The bar trades on a refined but relaxed late-night atmosphere, staying open until around 3am, and is a popular choice for after-work drinks, dates and small celebrations; .....

Classic Grand.

Housed in a five-storey Victorian warehouse on Jamaica Street in central Glasgow, the Classic Grand is a multi-level live music venue and nightclub with an unusually layered history. The building dates from around 1860 and was originally a commercial warehouse before part of it was converted into a cinema in the early twentieth century, and it has carried a sequence of names and uses across more than a century. It has been a category B listed building since 1970, and retains some of its original.....

Club Tropicana And Venga

Split between an Eighties room and a Nineties room, Club Tropicana and Venga is a retro-themed nightclub on Renfield Street in central Glasgow, less than a minute's walk from Glasgow Central station. Born out of a love for all things throwback, it bills itself as the city's original and best nostalgia venue, packing two themed rooms with a combined capacity of around eight hundred clubbers every weekend. The Tropicana room is dedicated to Eighties anthems, running from Spandau Ballet and ABBA t.....
