Host to the season-closing Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, the Yas Marina Circuit is a Formula One racing venue on Yas Island that has staged a round of the world championship every year since 2009. Designed by the German circuit architect Hermann Tilke, the 5.281 kilometre track is one of the most distinctive on the calendar, weaving around the Yas Marina, passing beneath the colour-changing canopy of the W Abu Dhabi hotel that straddles the circuit, and famously hosting its race into the dusk, with the start in daylight and the finish under floodlights. The circuit gained particular fame as the setting of the dramatic 2021 championship decider. The venue features a permanent grandstand capacity of around 60,000 spectators, expandable for major events, alongside extensive pit and paddock facilities, a marina, and a state-of-the-art lighting system that allows the entire track to be illuminated for night running. Beyond the headline Grand Prix, the circuit operates year-round as an active motorsport and leisure venue, hosting a wide range of racing series, track days and driving experiences. Visitors can take part in passenger hot laps, drive high-performance cars and single-seaters, ride karts at the on-site karting track, or join cycling and running sessions held on the track during scheduled community fitness nights. Guided tours take visitors behind the scenes into the pit lane, the media centre and the paddock. The circuit is also a major concert venue, with the Grand Prix weekend traditionally accompanied by performances from international headline artists. Located within the Yas Island leisure cluster alongside Ferrari World, the waterparks and the malls, the circuit is easily reached via the island shuttle and ample parking, and it draws motorsport fans, driving enthusiasts and concertgoers throughout the year across every season of the calendar. Tickets for driving experiences, karting and track tours are booked online in advance, and the Grand Prix weekend remains the busiest event of the year, combining racing with major international concerts across the seasons.
