A black-box main room billed as the largest comedy stage in Soho anchors 21Soho, a combined live-entertainment venue, cafe, cocktail bar and podcast studio tucked off Soho Square in London's West End. The principal performance space holds up to around 300 people, and a smaller basement room, used for cabaret, live music and intimate shows, holds roughly 60 more. The venue opened in February 2020, just a week before the first national coronavirus lockdown, and used the enforced closure to fit out the building before establishing itself as a central-London comedy fixture. It has hosted stand-up sets by some of the best-known names in British comedy, alongside live podcast recordings, panel shows and private events, and a daytime cafe operates from the same premises. Sitting on Sutton Row beside Soho Square and within sight of the Soho Place theatre, it occupies one of the busiest corners of the West End, a short walk from Tottenham Court Road. The mix of a daytime workspace cafe and an evening comedy and events programme lets the building trade around the clock. The original operating company entered liquidation in 2024, but the venue has continued under a wider group that also runs other London comedy rooms. For audiences the draw is a purpose-built comedy room in the heart of Soho, with a basement bar for after-show drinks and smaller late-night performances. The venue was launched by the TicketText group, whose founder also runs the King's Cross comedy room 2Northdown, and its main space was purpose-built for performance with a dedicated bar alongside. Early bills featured comedians including Sara Pascoe, Romesh Ranganathan, Aisling Bea and Phil Wang, and the room quickly drew strong reviews and a place among London's notable new comedy stages. Beyond stand-up it stages live podcast recordings and panel shows, and its podcast studio and daytime cafe widen its use well beyond evening performances.
