Occupying the former home of the long-running Club 414 at 414-416 Coldharbour Lane in Brixton, south London, the venue that launched as The Ton of Brix in December 2022 brought a new club operation to a site steeped in the area's underground dance history. A collaboration linked to the promoters behind Brixton Jamm, it took over a two-floor building only a few steps from Brixton station and held an unusual 24-hour drinking licence. The basement and ground floor were fitted with a Funktion-One sound system, and programming focused on house, techno and electronic music from touring and local DJs. In June 2024 the ground floor opened as a separate music bar called Bricks, with its own custom DJ booth, while The Ton of Brix continued upstairs. In March 2025 the two were reunited under the single name Bricks following a refit that added new lighting and retuned the sound. Under newer management the venue placed a stronger emphasis on community, working with local groups and youth organisations and hosting residencies to showcase emerging artists. Weekly live-music nights sit alongside club events, continuing the building's long role as a small, late-opening dance space. Coldharbour Lane runs through the centre of Brixton, a district with one of London's densest concentrations of music venues, bars and clubs. For dancers the appeal is an intimate room with a serious sound system and a direct lineage back to Club 414, one of the area's most enduring nightspots. Club 414 had occupied the site for decades, operating as one of London's longest-running independent clubs and a home for hard dance and psytrance all-nighters before it closed at the end of the 2010s. Its successors have kept the building in continuous use as a small dance venue, and the Bricks operation leans on Brixton's deep musical heritage, from reggae and sound-system culture to contemporary electronic music. With Electric Brixton, the O2 Academy and a dense run of bars close by, the venue sits in one of south London's most active nightlife districts.
