The Button Factory is a bar and restaurant in Birmingham's Jewellery Quarter, set, as its name suggests, in a former button factory on Frederick Street. Spread over two floors of the converted industrial building, it combines bold food with a busy weekend nightlife programme in one of the city's most characterful districts. The kitchen centres on a Robata grill, cooking North African-inspired dishes and small plates over coal and open flame, served alongside craft cocktails and local beers. The menu runs from lunches and dinners to a Saturday bottomless brunch, with the grill giving the food a distinctive smoky, fire-led character. The building has been opened up to reveal its original brick-bare bones, with interiors that nod to its industrial past while adding a New York edge. Occupying a site that previously traded as the bar Vertu, the Button Factory reopened with a renewed focus on its heritage building and a food-and-drink offer pitched at a broad, sociable crowd. It markets itself as a proper pub for people who love food, blending dining, drinks and nightlife. The Jewellery Quarter, long known for its independent and quirky venues, has become one of Birmingham's most popular areas for eating and drinking, and the Button Factory sits among its busiest spots.
