Tucked beneath the railway arches on Albert Embankment in Vauxhall, Union is a long-running LGBTQ+ nightclub at the centre of one of London's best-known gay districts. The club occupies the space previously run as Crash, and was set up as a collaboration between three established London promoters: Wayne Shires, Alan Roberts and Steve Darragh, each bringing their own following and club nights to the venue. The aim was to give Vauxhall an independent, quality-focused space, and the venue was fitted with a powerful sound system and a full lighting rig across its arched rooms. Layout-wise the club spreads across the underground arches and includes a large bar area, a pool room, cruise areas and a partly covered smoking space to the front, a combination that has shaped its reputation on the scene. Union is unusual in opening every night of the week, frequently from the early hours through to the following morning, with a rolling programme of resident nights such as Orbit, Desire, FMG and WRONG! across the week. Saturdays bring larger and rotating events including long-running parties like Bootylicious, with the musical focus sitting firmly in techno, tech house and harder electronic styles. Its position a couple of minutes from Vauxhall's tube, rail and bus interchange makes it easy to reach, and the surrounding arches host a cluster of other late-night venues that together define the area's nightlife. With round-the-clock licensing across much of the week, Union has positioned itself as a venue where clubbers can find a party on almost any night, well outside the usual weekend pattern. Vauxhall has been a centre of London's LGBTQ+ nightlife for decades, and Union's near-continuous opening hours have made it a cornerstone of that scene, drawing a largely gay clubbing crowd as well as visitors from across the city. The combination of arch-lined rooms, a dedicated sound and lighting setup and a roster of resident promoters has kept it among the better-known names in the district's dense cluster of late-night venues.
