Billed as one of the world's largest waterparks, Aquaventure sits within the Atlantis resort complex on the crescent of Palm Jumeirah in Dubai. First opened in 2008 alongside Atlantis, The Palm, the park was greatly expanded over the following years and now spreads across the grounds of both the original hotel and the later Atlantis The Royal. It is built around a series of record-setting slides launched from towering structures, including near-vertical drops, water coasters and rides that send guests through chambers said to hold sharks and rays. Beyond the headline slides, the park offers long lazy and rapid rivers, a large wave pool and dedicated splash zones and gentler slides for younger children. A private beach forms part of the grounds, giving visitors a stretch of sand and sea alongside the freshwater attractions. Marine experiences are a feature of the wider resort, with opportunities to encounter rays, sharks and other sea life linked to the park. Cafes, restaurants and shops are spread across the site, and admission is sold as day tickets, with resort guests typically granted access as part of their stay. Its scale, range of rides and beachfront setting have made it one of Dubai's most visited family attractions. The park is arranged so that thrill-seekers and families share the same site, with the steepest drops and fastest slides set apart from the gentler children's areas and rivers. Height and age requirements apply to the bigger rides for safety, while younger visitors have their own scaled-down attractions. Lockers, towels and changing facilities are spread across the grounds, and the surrounding Atlantis resort adds restaurants, marine experiences and shops, so a day at the park can easily extend into the wider complex. During the cooler months the park is busiest at weekends and on public holidays, and early arrival is advised to reach the headline rides before queues build.
