Built around more than two dozen challenge cells, Prison Island Abu Dhabi is a team-based adventure game on the third level of the Abu Dhabi Mall in the capital. It is the Abu Dhabi branch of a game concept with sites across the United Arab Emirates. Unlike a conventional escape room, the game does not revolve around escaping a single locked space. Instead, teams move freely between cells, each containing a different task to solve within a short time limit. The cells test a mix of skills, from logic and puzzles to physical challenges of balance, strength and coordination. Players choose the order in which they tackle them and can return to repeat tasks. Each completed task earns points, with teams competing to top a live leaderboard against other groups. This scoring system gives the experience a competitive, replayable edge. Teams are typically made up of two to five players, with three or four considered ideal for keeping everyone active. The game is open to a wide age range, generally from around eight years upward. A full visit usually runs to a couple of hours, enough to attempt all the cells, and the venue includes a reception and a bar area. This makes it suited to social outings as well as casual visits. Its mall location keeps it convenient, with the surrounding Abu Dhabi Mall providing parking, shopping and dining around the game. The indoor setting makes it a year-round option. Popular for birthdays, team-building and group days out, the venue offers a more active, varied alternative to the single-room escape games found elsewhere in the city. Its free-roaming, points-based format and the sheer number of cells make it more varied and active than a single-room escape game, which has helped it become a popular fixture for group outings in the capital. Reservations are recommended, particularly at weekends.
