Started in 2007 by harpist Shelley Frost, The Fridge is a live-music venue and rehearsal space in a warehouse on Alserkal Avenue, the arts district in Al Quoz, Dubai. It grew out of a music agency that supplied performers for corporate events, and over time turned its base into a platform for the city's independent musicians. The warehouse hosts regular concert nights showcasing local talent across genres, from jazz and acoustic acts to bands drawn from Dubai's mix of resident communities. Between gigs the space works as a rehearsal room and a venue for jam sessions and workshops, giving musicians somewhere to meet, practise and collaborate. Its concert series, often built around emerging artists, has made it one of the few dedicated grassroots music spaces in a city better known for hotel bars and clubs. The agency side continues alongside the venue, booking acts for events ranging from private functions to large corporate occasions.
