DR Byen station is an elevated stop on the Copenhagen Metro's M1 line, serving Danmarks Radio's DR Byen headquarters complex - including the DR Koncerthuset concert hall - at the northern end of Orestad on Amager. It opened with the metro's first stage on 19 October 2002 under the name Universitetet, a relic of early plans that placed the University of Copenhagen's new campus here; when the university built closer to Islands Brygge station instead, the name caused years of confusion, and on 25 September 2006 the station was renamed DR Byen (with Universitetet demoted to a subtitle). It is the first above-ground station heading south on the Vestamager branch, sits on the boundary of fare zones 1 and 3 at Orestads Boulevard 21, and handles around 5,000 passengers on a weekday, chiefly DR staff, concert-goers and students from the surrounding Orestad Nord campus quarter.
