One of Denmark's largest recording studios doubles as a broadcast-ready concert room. MillFactory Studios at Rentemestervej 25 in Copenhagen's Nordvest district runs 400 square metres of recording facilities founded in 1985, with rooms acoustically designed by Andy Monroe - and NuVenue is the operation's eyes: an integrated video system of eight-plus Panasonic robot cameras that can livestream directly, capture multi-camera video for editing and colour-grading, and visually connect the studio rooms for artistic interplay. The setup turns sessions into shows. The annual NuVenue Jazz Festival packs a dozen or more concerts into a weekend inside the studio complex - fourteen concerts across two days in the 2023 edition - performed to both a room audience and the cameras, with studio-quality multitrack audio underneath. The NuVenue Mobile arm takes the same rig out of the house for A/V captures of concerts, shows and events elsewhere, delivering an edited, colour-graded product from a single booking. The studio is led by producer, pianist and songwriter Boe Larsen, owner since 2000, and the premises also host the Copenhagen Music Academy's hands-on production courses, giving emerging producers client-focused studio experience in the same rooms. For artists the pitch is unusual in the Danish market: record, film, stream and perform under one Nordvest roof, five minutes from Norrebro Station. For audiences the festival weekends are a rare chance to hear jazz in a control-room-quality acoustic - rooms built for recording flatter small ensembles in ways ordinary venues cannot - and for musicians the output doubles as release-ready material: many acts leave a NuVenue date with a filmed, mixed live session in hand. That dual value has made the studio a quiet fixture in the Copenhagen jazz ecosystem alongside the traditional clubs.
