The Grove's block party got a permanent address. Atomic Pavilion at 4140 Manchester Avenue is the open-air stage of Atomic by Jamo, the multi-room entertainment complex that St. Louis promoter Jamo Presents has built in the middle of the Grove nightlife district - an operation whose lineage runs through the city's beloved independent rooms, from the original Ready Room to the Old Rock House. After a six-week trial season in 2024, the pavilion relaunched with its defining feature: a block-party configuration of repurposed shipping containers - rolling bars and merch booths - that form a movable fence line extending the footprint onto Talmage Avenue and lifting capacity to 2,000. The containers wear murals by local artist 18andcounting of the Screwed Arts Collective, joined to Killer Napkins' full-wall St. Louis Mural Project piece next door, so the venue doubles as one of the city's most photographed outdoor art installations. Inside the complex, the Atomic Lounge handles intimate indoor shows and late-night jams, the Atomic Garage takes mid-size bookings, and the Atomic Eats kitchen - backed by the Kingside Diner and Herbie's teams - feeds the whole operation. The calendar runs up to seven nights a week through the warm months: reggae legends like Steel Pulse and Black Uhuru, R&B block parties, tribute nights, local-headliner festivals and themed dance parties, with fee-free tickets at the in-house box office during open hours. Street parking and the Grove's bar row complete the evening; the neighbourhood was built for exactly this. The Grove context matters to the formula: Manchester Avenue's strip of bars, drag stages and late kitchens means the pavilion's crowds arrive early and stay late, and the venue's block-party layout deliberately blurs where the show ends and the neighbourhood begins. Jamo Presents runs the complex with the promoter's instinct for the underserved middle of the market - acts too big for the Lounge, not ready for the amphitheatres - and the container-built bars can reconfigure the footprint show by show, from tight 800-cap club nights under the open sky to the full 2,000-person street takeover.
