The most famous male revue on earth finally has the Strip address it chased for two decades. The Chippendales Theater at Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino, 3663 South Las Vegas Boulevard, opened on 3 July 2025 as the custom-designed, dedicated home of the bow-tied dance troupe, on the resort's mezzanine level across from the Criss Angel Theater. The room - formerly the Sin City Theater - was rebuilt around the production, giving the show full control of lighting, sound, stage design and audience interaction for the first time since its long Rio residency, and making Chippendales the venue's sole tenant. The move capped a nomadic stretch for one of Las Vegas's most durable brands. Chippendales opened at the off-Strip Rio in 2001, moved into its purpose-built 400-seat theater there in 2004, and ran for 23 years - more than 9,000 performances and over a million tickets, the longest-running male revue residency in the city's history - before closing on New Year's Eve 2024 when the Rio's new owners repurposed the space. A stopgap residency at the Mat Franco Theater at the Linq began in January 2025, but the shared room's tight turnovers pushed the troupe toward Planet Hollywood within six months. The show itself is the 45-plus-year-old franchise formula polished to Vegas standard: high-energy choreographed numbers, themed set pieces, audience participation aimed squarely at bachelorette parties and girls' nights, and the signature cuffs-and-collar costume registered as a trademark - one of the few pieces of clothing with its own US trademark registration. Celebrity guest hosts have ranged from 98 Degrees' Jeff Timmons to reality-TV stars, and the brand runs national tours plus a Nashville outpost alongside the Vegas flagship. Inside the centre-Strip resort shared with big-name concert residencies and the Miracle Mile Shops, the theater runs multiple shows weekly year-round - the institutionalised, self-aware descendant of the club act that invented the modern male revue in 1979, now with its name on the marquee of its own room.
