South Calgary's biggest night out lives under one roof beside the Deerfoot Trail freeway - a casino floor the size of a city block, a full-service hotel, and a showroom that pulls national headliners to the suburbs. The Deerfoot Inn and Casino at 11500 35 Street SE opened in November 2005, part of the second wave of Alberta casino growth, and was extensively renovated and expanded in 2021. The property was long operated by Gamehost, which took full ownership in 2022, and its gaming operations now run under the Pure Casino Entertainment banner. The casino side is one of the largest in the Calgary market: roughly 60,000 square feet of gaming floor with over 800 slot machines including a dedicated high-limit slot room, 28 gaming tables with a separate eleven-table high-limit room, a nine-table poker room and video lottery terminals, ringed by food and beverage outlets from a 120-seat pub-style restaurant to a sushi kiosk and an island bar. The Chrome Showroom is the entertainment engine - a room hosting up to about 650 guests for concerts, comedy, tribute nights, dance parties and even martial-arts events, with recent calendars spanning national touring comedians, country and rock acts, Latin tribute orchestras and improv troupes. It gives the city's deep south a proper live venue without the drive downtown. The hotel completes the resort formula: 188 guest rooms including 37 suites, a family-magnet indoor water park with pool and waterslide, a fitness centre, a 190-seat full-service restaurant and lounge, and more than 17,000 square feet of convention space across 14 meeting and banquet rooms with Rocky Mountain views - one of the busiest event and wedding venues on the city's south side. The combination - gaming, live entertainment, dining and accommodation off Stoney Trail and Deerfoot Trail - makes the property the definitive entertainment anchor for southeast Calgary, drawing a mix of locals, conference traffic and touring-show crowds year-round.
