The Irish national baseball team, a taco festival and a division-winning Frontier League club all share the same diamond in Washington County, Pennsylvania. EQT Park at 1 Washington Federal Way - not Washington, DC, but the town of Washington about thirty minutes southwest of Pittsburgh - has been home to the Washington Wild Things of the independent Frontier League since the complex opened in 2002. The ballpark has cycled through names that trace its financing history: it debuted as Falconi Field, honouring the late local entrepreneur Angelo Falconi, became CONSOL Energy Park from 2007 to 2016, ran as Wild Things Park from 2017, and in March 2025 took its current name under a three-year naming-rights deal between owner Sports Facility, LLC and the Pittsburgh-based energy company EQT, announced before local officials and league executives. The Wild Things have been one of the Frontier League's steadiest draws since arriving in 2002, winning division titles across eras - including the West Division crown in 2024 - and sending a stream of players onward to affiliated ball. The park's intimate bowl seats around 3,200 with lawn and party-deck areas pushing event capacity higher, and its sightlines and family-focused promotions are standard-setting for the independent circuit. Beyond the pro schedule the complex works as a genuine community venue: WPIAL high school baseball playoffs, PennWest California university games, McGuffey and Washington High School dates and PONY League events fill the calendar, joined by concerts, the Pride Festival, the Taco and Tequila Festival and novelty baseball like the Irish national team's exhibition against the Washington Whiskey Runners. Getting there is easy by design: the park sits just off Interstate 70 at the southern edge of Washington with big free lots, and the Tanger Outlets and the racetrack-casino at The Meadows are minutes away. For an evening of cheap, close-up baseball in western Pennsylvania, it remains one of the region's best tickets.
