Five hundred solar panels power the stage where Ultra Music Festival's main stage first thundered in 2001. The FPL Solar Amphitheater at Bayfront Park, 301 North Biscayne Boulevard, is downtown Miami's big outdoor concert bowl - a 10,000-capacity venue of 2,672 fixed bench seats and a sweeping lawn, set inside the 32-acre waterfront park on Biscayne Bay. Bayfront Park itself is Miami history: designed by Warren Henry Manning and opened in 1925, then radically remade from 1980 by sculptor-landscape architect Isamu Noguchi, whose white-concrete geometries still frame the grounds. Bandshell music dates to the 1920s, and bandleader Caesar LaMonaca conducted the city's concerts here for a full half-century. The modern amphitheatre arrived with the park's 1980s redevelopment and has cycled through names - Bayfront Park Amphitheater, AT&T, Klipsch - before Florida Power and Light's naming deal accompanied the 2020 eco-renovation that added the solar array. Its stage history spans Nirvana, Phish and Megadeth through Dua Lipa, Pitbull and Maroon 5, plus the marquee association with Ultra, which mainstaged here in its early years and returned the festival to the park in 2022 after a Virginia Key exile. Under Live Nation operation the venue anchors Miami's outdoor season - touring rock, Latin, reggaeton and electronic bills through the warm months - while the park around it stages the city's New Year's Eve ball drop, July Fourth celebrations, fitness classes and the Tina Hills Pavilion's free community shows. Logistics are downtown-easy: Metromover's Bayfront Park station borders the site, Bayside Marketplace and the Kaseya Center sit directly north, and garages plus rideshare zones handle event nights. Lawn tickets reward blankets and early arrival; bay breezes and the skyline behind the stage do the rest.
