Atlanta's Tony-winning regional theatre built an entire new stage just for its youngest audiences - and opened it with a Peter Rabbit musical. The Goizueta Stage for Youth and Families, in the Memorial Arts Building of the Woodruff Arts Center at 1280 Peachtree Street NE in Midtown Atlanta, opened in January 2026 as a purpose-built 300-seat theatre for the Alliance Theatre's family and student programming. The stage is the flagship of a 67-million-dollar capital campaign that also delivered the adjoining PNC PlaySpace, an interactive pre-show play area. It gives a permanent, right-sized home to the Alliance's youth work - shows like Into the Burrow: A Peter Rabbit Tale and Naked Mole Rat Gets Dressed run in repertory-length engagements - and houses the company's Underground Rep program. The parent institution carries serious weight: founded in 1968, the Alliance is the leading producing theatre in the American Southeast, a Regional Theatre Tony Award recipient whose premieres have transferred to Broadway more than a dozen times - from The Color Purple to The Prom - and whose education department reaches over 90,000 students annually. The Goizueta Stage effectively doubles the company's year-round capacity for that mission. The setting multiplies the value of a visit: the Woodruff Arts Center campus also holds the Alliance's mainstage Coca-Cola Stage, the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra and the High Museum of Art, making a children's matinee combinable with a gallery afternoon in a single city block. Logistics are the campus standard: MARTA's Arts Center station is across the street, with paid parking in the Woodruff and surrounding Midtown garages; the campus is fully wheelchair accessible with assisted-listening devices available. Book family shows early - initial seasons have sold strongly.
