The sister club to Fort Worth's longest-running comedy room gives Dallas the same formula: road-hardened professional comics, an intimate showroom and a full bar, week in and week out. Hyena's Comedy Nightclub Dallas, at 5321 East Mockingbird Lane in the Mockingbird Station development, has served the city's stand-up scene since around 2010. The parent operation supplies the DNA: owner Randy Butler learned club management at Albuquerque's Laffs Comedy Caffe in the 1980s and opened the original Hyena's in downtown Fort Worth in December 1994. The Dallas room extended the brand east across the Metroplex, and the group has since added the intimate Red Room stage and an Albuquerque club to the family. The booking philosophy is the brand's signature: rather than chasing arena-level celebrity names, Hyena's books the craft end of the touring circuit - headliners with decades of road miles, breakout comics on their first national runs, and local Texas talent in support slots and showcases - a model that keeps ticket prices reasonable and quality consistent. The room follows the house design: a showroom laid out to press the stage into the audience so no table feels remote, modern sound and lighting, and general-admission seating that rewards early arrival. Weekend nights anchor the calendar with multiple shows, joined by special events and taping nights. Practical notes: Mockingbird Station puts the club beside the DART Red and Orange lines' Mockingbird station, with the development's restaurants, cinema and garage parking wrapped around it; most shows are 18-plus with a two-item minimum typical, and Saturday late shows skew rowdier - by design. The Dallas comedy market is crowded - the Addison Improv, Dallas Comedy Club and a rotating cast of showcase rooms all compete for weekend audiences - and Hyena's has held its lane by consistency: the same house policies, the same booking philosophy and many of the same headliners cycling through year after year, building the repeat-customer base that sustains a club between viral names. For touring comics the Dallas and Fort Worth rooms book as a natural weekend pair, one brand covering both halves of the Metroplex.
