Mark Cuban and Live Nation bet that the Design District needed a rock club, and named it twice to get there. The Echo Lounge and Music Hall at 1323 North Stemmons Freeway opened on November 1, 2021, with Mayer Hawthorne - a 1,000-capacity venue that had been announced as The HiFi until a trademark issue forced the rename days before opening. The partnership was deliberate city-building: developed by Live Nation with Cuban and the Dallas Mavericks, the club sits adjacent to the Mavericks' training centre and near American Airlines Center, with Cuban pitching it as the post-game anchor that would push the Design District toward entertainment-destination status. The building converts a former furniture-warehouse site into a two-storey glass-walled box with a lightbox glow at night - 25,000 square feet of flexible space that runs full general admission or seats about 300 on the floor and 115 on the second level. The opening season showed the intended register: Madison Beer, 100 gecs, Goose, Mother Mother and Tate McRae sell-outs inside the first months - the rising-national tier that previously jumped from Dallas clubs straight to theatres. It opened as the smallest club Live Nation owned and operated anywhere, a deliberate incubator slot in the company's Dallas portfolio between the club rooms of Deep Ellum and the pavilions and arenas beyond. The venue doubles as a corporate and private events engine - weddings, launches and award nights book the same production stack as the concerts - and its Stemmons frontage puts a music marquee on one of the busiest freeway corridors in Texas. The room's configuration flexibility is its quiet asset: the same night-to-night footprint can run a seated singer-songwriter evening, a full-floor electronic show or a hybrid with reserved balcony seats above a standing pit, letting the bookers chase acts across genres that a fixed-seat room of this size would have to pass on.
