Constructed at a cost of $27 million and opened on 22 July 2021, the Andrew J Brady Music Center sits in The Banks neighbourhood on Cincinnati's Ohio River waterfront, adjacent to Smale Riverfront Park. Named for local musician and music educator Andrew J. Brady, the year-round facility was developed by the non-profit Music and Event Management, Inc. (MEMI) and designed by Harvey Marshall Berling Associates as the region's theatre and acoustical consultants. The indoor venue holds up to 4,500 across a general-admission main floor and two balcony levels, with no seat more than 125 feet from the stage. The adjustable capacity allows the room to scale down for intimate shows while still being significantly larger than any other indoor music venue of its type in the region. Private VIP areas include balconies, city-view lounges, and a window overlooking the stage, each with dedicated restroom access. Adjacent to the building, the ICON Festival Stage at Smale Park provides an outdoor concert space for up to 8,000 people during summer months. When no events are scheduled, the turf and grass area serves as an extension of the public park. The outdoor stage faces the Ohio River, and following feedback from across the river in Covington about sound levels, MEMI established volume limits, installed monitoring equipment, rotated the stage 20 degrees, and imposed 11 PM concert cutoffs. The venue is accessible via the Connector bus line, Metro and TANK transit, and Red Bike bicycle-share stations. Concessions serve food and drinks on each level. The Foo Fighters served as the first act on the outdoor stage in July 2021, setting the programming standard for a venue that has quickly become a linchpin of Cincinnati's live-music landscape.
