Formerly known as Vangelis Tavern, Black Cat Tavern was rebranded in 2018 by owners Jodie Uliski and Greg Figg, who overhauled both the physical space and the booking philosophy at 801 Broadway Avenue in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. The venue now serves as the city's primary independent live-music room, programming four or more shows a week across genres from metal and punk to electronic, folk, and everything in between. Past performers have included Merzbow, Thee Silver Mt. Zion, July Talk, Jessy Lanza, Lido Pimienta, Monster Truck, Madchild, and Ingested. Beyond touring acts, the calendar features a bi-weekly comedy night, monthly punk rock bingo, trivia evenings, record nights, and Open Stage Sundays where local musicians can try out new material. Pool tables, pinball machines, ping pong, and a VLT room keep patrons occupied between sets. The kitchen serves pizza, lasagna, riblets, and other pub staples, with beer specials running throughout the week. Regular hours are Monday through Thursday from 4 PM to midnight, and Friday through Saturday from 4 PM to 2 AM. Booking inquiries can be directed through the venue's website or by phone at 306-652-5173.
