Opened in 1976 and named for legendary Nebraska football coach Bob Devaney, the Bob Devaney Sports Center at 611 North 16th Street served as the University of Nebraska's primary indoor arena for nearly four decades before the Huskers men's and women's basketball programmes relocated to the new Pinnacle Bank Arena in 2013. The 7,907-seat facility continues to host Huskers volleyball, gymnastics, and wrestling, along with concerts, trade shows, and community events. Nebraska volleyball, which regularly draws sellout crowds exceeding 8,000, has been the building's marquee tenant since the basketball programmes departed. The arena's steep seating bowl and enclosed atmosphere create a notoriously loud environment for visiting teams. The Devaney Center sits on the University of Nebraska-Lincoln campus adjacent to Memorial Stadium.
