Built at a cost of million and opened with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on 30 August 2008, the BOK Center is a 19,199-seat multi-purpose arena that has established itself as the premier indoor entertainment venue in northeastern Oklahoma. Occupying a four-block footprint at 200 South Denver Avenue in downtown Tulsa, the arena was funded through the Vision 2025 long-range development initiative with million in public funds and million in private donations and upgrades. The 565,000-square-foot, 134-foot-tall structure encloses a three-level seating bowl with 17,343 fixed seats -- each 20 to 22 inches wide, exceeding the industry standard. A 930-foot HD ribbon screen wraps the bowl, and 37 luxury suites occupy the exclusive carpeted second level with complete bar and kitchen areas. Capacity adjusts by event: 19,199 for centre-stage concerts, 17,839 for basketball, 17,096 for hockey, 16,582 for arena football, and 13,644 for partial-stage shows. The main concourse features 130,000 square feet of terrazzo flooring with 70-percent mother-of-pearl aggregate. Current tenants include the Tulsa Oilers of the ECHL and the Tulsa Oilers of the Indoor Football League. The concert roster reads like a who's-who of global touring: Paul McCartney, Elton John, U2, Taylor Swift, Metallica, AC/DC, Bruce Springsteen, Lady Gaga, Garth Brooks, Celine Dion, and Billy Joel have all headlined the building. The Eagles opened the concert programme on 6 September 2008 and returned for a second show after the first sold out within minutes of going on sale. The BOK Center sits within Tulsa's downtown Arts District, near the Tulsa Performing Arts Center, the Cox Business Convention Center, and the Blue Dome Entertainment District. An advanced LED light display illuminates the arena's signature glass curtain wall at night. Parking is available in adjacent garages and surface lots, and the arena is within walking distance of downtown hotels and restaurants.
