Home to the Winnipeg Jets of the National Hockey League since the franchise's return to the city in 2011, Canada Life Centre at 300 Portage Avenue is downtown Winnipeg's largest indoor arena. The 15,321-seat venue opened on 4 November 2004 as the MTS Centre and has operated under several naming-rights sponsors, becoming Canada Life Centre in 2021. The arena also serves as the home court for the Manitoba Moose of the AHL. The building was developed by True North Sports and Entertainment at a cost of approximately $133.5 million, funded primarily by private investment. The arena features 72 luxury suites, two club lounges, a full-service restaurant, and a 360-degree LED ring. Concert capacity reaches approximately 16,345 for centre-stage configurations and 15,015 for end-stage shows, making it the largest concert venue in the Manitoba market. Located at the intersection of Portage Avenue and Donald Street, the arena anchors Winnipeg's downtown entertainment corridor alongside the Burton Cummings Theatre, the Forks, and the Exchange District. The arena's return of NHL hockey to Winnipeg after 15 years without a team (following the original Jets' relocation to Arizona in 1996) made it an instant civic landmark. The famous "whiteout" playoff atmosphere has become one of the most iconic home-ice traditions in the league. Parking is available in surrounding downtown garages and surface lots, and the arena is accessible by Winnipeg Transit. Ticketing is handled through True North and Ticketmaster.
