Sitting on the campus of Cape Fear Community College in downtown Wilmington, North Carolina, the Wilson Center is the most technologically advanced performing arts facility in the eastern part of the state. The Allan and Laura Wilson Humanities and Fine Arts Center, opened in 2017 and affectionately known as the Wilson Center, functions both as a professional entertainment venue and as a learning laboratory for CFCC students. Its performance hall holds 1,499 seats arranged across orchestra and grand tiers, and the main stage stretches 87 feet wide by 41 feet deep, regularly accommodating large-scale touring Broadway productions, nationally recognised musicians, and comedy acts. Behind the curtain, the facility houses 26 instructional spaces, a studio theatre, and extensive backstage accommodations including a two-bay covered loading dock, two star dressing rooms, three group dressing rooms, a green room, and a wardrobe room. Professional-quality lighting, audio, and rigging equipment bring the production capabilities to a level that attracts major national touring shows. The glass-lined lobby provides concession stands on both the orchestra and grand tiers. Named after Allan and Laura Wilson, whose donation was among the largest in CFCC history, the centre reflects the family's longstanding commitment to education and the arts in the Cape Fear region. The Wilsons established an endowed scholarship at the college before attaching their name to the performing arts facility. As a proud part of the community college, the Wilson Center operates at the intersection of professional entertainment and hands-on student training, offering the next generation of industry professionals direct access to a working, world-class venue. The Wilson Center is located at 703 North 3rd Street, Wilmington, NC 28401. Visitors using GPS are directed to the parking deck address at 200 Hanover Street for the most direct route. The box office can be reached at 910-362-7999. County, state, and government agencies receive waived base rental rates, and reduced rates are available to North Carolina-based organisations booking three or more dates in a fiscal year.
