Eastern North Carolina's only full-time comedy club, the Dead Crow Comedy Room traces its roots to the Nutt Street Comedy Room, which opened in the basement of the Soapbox Laundro-Lounge in 2009. Co-founders Timmy Sherrill and Cole Craven relaunched the operation as Dead Crow in 2014 on Front Street, then moved to a larger showroom at 511 North Third Street in Wilmington in August 2021, where the club now shares its space with Lush Garden Bar. The showroom seats approximately 160 and has hosted nationally recognised comedians including Michael Che, Trevor Noah, Jim Gaffigan, and Nate Bargatze alongside a steady rotation of regional and local talent. Weekly programming includes trivia on Wednesdays, the DareDevil improv show on Wednesdays, an open-mic night on Thursdays with sign-up at 7 p.m. and free entry, and touring headliners at 7 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays. The adjacent Lush Garden Bar features an indoor craft-beer and cocktail bar plus an outdoor beer garden open seven days a week. Food trucks regularly park on site. Tickets should be purchased in advance online at deadcrowcomedy.com, as popular shows sell out quickly. The club also runs the Dead Crow Comedy Festival, an annual multi-day event that brings comedians from across the country to Wilmington. Audience members must be 18 or older for most shows, with a 21-and-over bar policy. Seating is general admission on a first-come, first-served basis, and groups of four or more are recommended to arrive early for the best tables. The venue phone number is 910-399-1492. Street parking and paid lots are available along North Third Street and surrounding blocks in downtown Wilmington. The venue is a short walk from the Cape Fear River waterfront and the city's dining and nightlife district. The venue is a cornerstone of the Wilmington comedy scene.
