Housed in a building that served as Old Tarr Distillery warehouse number 2 in the 1800s -- part of the first registered distillery in Kentucky -- Manchester Music Hall occupies 11,000 square feet at 899 Manchester Street in the heart of Lexington's Distillery District. Three entrepreneurs from Pikeville purchased the space in 2015 and, working with Lexington event-management company LexEffect, reopened it on September 30, 2015 after renovations and the addition of a new parking lot. The building had previously operated as the Star Tool Company and, from 2009 to 2014, as Buster's Billiards and Backroom, a mid-size concert venue. Manchester Music Hall inherited that legacy and expanded upon it, booking a wide variety of national and regional acts across genres from metal and rock to pop-country, hip-hop, bluegrass, and Americana. Artists who have performed here include Tyler Childers, Trivium, Steep Canyon Rangers, Lupe Fiasco, Atreyu, Highly Suspect, Chris Knight, Jamey Johnson, Bone Thugs-N-Harmony, and Manchester Orchestra. Maximum standing capacity is 1,100, with seated configurations accommodating 400 to 500 depending on the event layout. A permanent stage and full production infrastructure support touring acts at a professional level. The venue is also available for wedding receptions, corporate functions, and private celebrations, with two parking lots included in the rental. The Distillery District location places Manchester Music Hall within a rapidly developing corridor of restaurants, bars, and creative businesses that have repurposed Lexington's bourbon heritage into a contemporary entertainment destination. The industrial yet polished aesthetic of the converted warehouse space gives the venue a character that connects its 19th-century distilling roots to 21st-century live music culture.
