Route 66 Stadium, formerly known as Hammons Field, is a minor league baseball stadium in Springfield, Missouri, with a capacity of approximately 10,486 including general admission areas. Note: the venue's database listing shows Springfield, MA, but the stadium is actually located in Springfield, Missouri. Home to the Springfield Cardinals, the Double-A affiliate of the St. Louis Cardinals, and the Missouri State University Bears, the ballpark has been a centrepiece of Springfield's downtown since it opened in April 2004. The stadium was funded entirely by local businessman and hotel mogul John Q. Hammons, who built the facility before a minor league team had been secured. The St. Louis Cardinals relocated their Double-A affiliate from Tennessee to Springfield in 2005, and the team has remained there since. Notable alumni who have passed through the Springfield roster include Yadier Molina, Adam Wainwright, David Freese, and Adolis Garcia. In May 2026, the ballpark was renamed Route 66 Stadium in a collaborative arrangement between the Springfield Cardinals, O'Reilly Auto Parts, the City of Springfield, Missouri State University, and Mercy, honouring Springfield's role in the history of U.S. Route 66 on its centennial. Local businessman John T. Woodruff was the first president of the U.S. Highway 66 Association that advocated for the road's construction. The ballpark sits within Jordan Valley Park at 955 East Trafficway Street, close to the Chestnut Expressway, part of the historic route the Mother Road took through the city. The facility includes multiple gate entries, elevators for accessibility, suite-level hospitality, and a right-field patio, making it a versatile venue for both baseball and community events in the Ozarks region.
