Originally opened on 1 May 1989 as Disney-MGM Studios, this 135-acre theme park at Walt Disney World celebrates the worlds of cinema, television, music, and theatre through immersive themed environments and ride attractions. The park was rebranded as Disney's Hollywood Studios in 2008, and a series of major expansions in the late 2010s transformed it from a half-day park into a full-day destination anchored by two blockbuster lands. Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge, opened in August 2019, recreates the planet Batuu with painstaking environmental storytelling across 14 acres. Its centrepiece is Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run, a simulator in which guests pilot the iconic spacecraft, and Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance, a trackless dark ride widely considered among the most technologically advanced theme park attractions ever built. Toy Story Land, opened in June 2018, shrinks guests to the scale of Andy's toys across an 11-acre outdoor playground. The Rock 'n' Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith launches riders from zero to 57 miles per hour in 2.8 seconds through an indoor track. The Tower of Terror, housed in a 199-foot replica of a 1930s Hollywood hotel, remains the park's tallest structure and most enduring attraction since its 1994 debut. Live entertainment includes the Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular, the Fantasmic nighttime show on a lagoon stage, and seasonal concert series. The park is accessible from Interstate 4 via the World Drive or Osceola Parkway exits and by Disney transport from all resort hotels. Mickey and Minnie's Runaway Railway, opened in 2020, uses trackless ride technology and projection mapping to place guests inside a Mickey Mouse cartoon short. The park's evening entertainment includes a fireworks and projection spectacular on the replica Chinese Theatre facade. Multiple quick-service and table-service restaurants offer themed dining, with the 50's Prime Time Cafe and Sci-Fi Dine-In Theater among the most distinctive in any Disney park.
