An aquarium on Blackpool's Golden Mile promenade, part of the international SEA LIFE chain operated by Merlin Entertainments, presenting marine life in themed habitat zones with an emphasis on conservation education and family-oriented interactive experiences. The aquarium provides an all-weather attraction on the seafront between Blackpool Tower and the Pleasure Beach, housing over 2,000 marine and freshwater creatures across themed display zones. Exhibits follow the SEA LIFE format of immersive themed zones: a tropical ocean tunnel where sharks, rays, and large fish swim overhead through a transparent acrylic tunnel; a rockpool touch zone where visitors handle starfish and crabs under staff supervision; a seahorse nursery highlighting breeding and conservation programmes; a jellyfish display using specialised lighting to emphasise translucent body structures; and tropical reef tanks recreating Indo-Pacific coral ecosystems. The SEA LIFE Trust, the chain's conservation charity, funds marine habitat protection and rescue programmes that are presented as case studies within the aquarium, giving visitors tangible examples of how aquarium-based research and public engagement contribute to ocean conservation. Located on the Promenade between the Tower and Central Pier, SEA LIFE Blackpool is accessible on foot from most seafront accommodation and by tram from stations along the promenade. Combined tickets with Blackpool Tower, the Dungeon, and Madame Tussauds (all Merlin properties on the same stretch of promenade) are available.
