Opened in 2019 as the successor to The Haunt, Chalk is a multi-purpose live music venue and nightclub at Brighton's coach station, opposite the Palace Pier. When the long-running Haunt outgrew its original site, its independent owners relocated next door into the larger former ABC Cinema within the Savoy Centre and rebranded under a new name. The venue centres on a large main room whose capacity can be reconfigured for each event, with an additional bar on a mezzanine level, a Martin Audio sound system and a bespoke lighting and visual rig. It splits its calendar between live concerts -- past performers range from Tom Jones and Snow Patrol to Little Simz, Yungblud and Arlo Parks -- and weekly club nights such as Fat Poppadaddys and Let's Kill Disco. Its seafront location, in the heart of Brighton, makes it one of the city's principal mid-size music venues.
