The Wardrobe is an independent bar, kitchen, and live-music venue at 6 St Peter's Square in the cultural quarter of Leeds city centre, neighbouring Leeds Conservatoire and BBC Yorkshire. Established in 1999, it is one of the city's longest-running independent venues and a long-standing fixture of its live-music scene. The street-level floor is a spacious cafe-bar and restaurant with industrial, 1950s New York-inspired decor, an extensive back bar, craft beers, hand-pulled ales, and cocktails. Below it sits a 500-capacity basement club with a darker, intimate, jazz-club feel that hosts an extensive and diverse programme of music, comedy, and club nights. Now part of the Futuresound Group, The Wardrobe stages well over 200 shows a year across two stages, with a long heritage in funk, soul, jazz, hip-hop, and reggae; past performers include Amy Winehouse, Corinne Bailey Rae, Roy Ayers, and Robert Glasper. Regular DJ-led club nights and comedy bookings round out a calendar that has kept it central to Leeds nightlife for more than two decades.
