The Continental is a pub, restaurant, and cultural venue on South Meadow Lane in Preston, Lancashire, set picturesquely beside the River Ribble on the edge of Avenham and Miller Parks. Known locally as the city's indie culture destination, it pairs a riverside bar and kitchen with a large beer garden and a cosy fireside snug, drawing both residents and visitors from across Lancashire. Much of its reputation rests on a busy events programme, anchored by a dedicated adjoining performance space called The Boatyard. Events span live music, theatre, comedy, literature, arts and crafts, open-mic nights, and fortnightly film screenings, alongside an annual beer festival held by the riverside. Some events are ticketed and others are free to enter. The kitchen serves a seasonal menu with real ales and craft beers, while the venue and its arts space are also available for private, corporate, and creative hire. Step-free access reaches both the bar and restaurant and The Boatyard, and there is parking behind the pub close to the parks and the Guild Wheel walking and cycling route.
