The Shipping Forecast is a multi-level bar, restaurant, and music venue at 15 Slater Street in Liverpool's Ropewalks district, in the heart of one of the city's busiest nightlife streets. Its industrial-styled main floor mixes bare-brick walls, vintage signage, and comfortable seating with a craft-focused drinks list and a food menu known for its burgers. The venue is best known for its basement space, wittily named The Hold - an intimate, brick-walled room with its own bar, stage, and DJ booth that hosts live gigs, club nights, comedy, and private events for up to around 180 people. A mezzanine "Top Deck" level is also used for private functions, exhibitions, and screenings, and a top-floor print shop has sold gig posters and artwork. Popular with students, creatives, and music fans, The Shipping Forecast has built a reputation for eclectic programming and for being the venue where the Bongo's Bingo phenomenon first took off. It trades from midday until late, with later closing on Friday and Saturday nights.
