Built from more than fifty repurposed shipping containers, Pop Brixton is a community project and events space on Brixton Station Road in south London. Created in 2015 on a council-owned site that was previously a disused ice rink, it brings together independent street-food traders, bars, retailers and social enterprises in a vibrant open-air setting, and has become one of the area's best-known destinations for food, drink and culture. The project was conceived with strong social and community objectives, designed as a meanwhile use of land making good use of a vacant site. Its containers have been arranged and converted to provide a range of business, retail and community spaces, with a focus on supporting local enterprise, employment and training.
