Named after the trio of locks on the Regent's Canal visible from its front, 3 Locks Brewing Company is an independent craft brewery and taproom set under the railway arches at Hawley Wharf in Camden Market. Established in 2022, it was the market's first brewery, brewing its beer on site beside a canal-side taproom and terrace that overlook the water and the comings and goings of the market. The venue was founded by Marinos Alexandrou, who drew on previous experience running a popular bar in Camden Market and co-owning a brewery on the Greek island of Paros. His stated aim was to create an inclusive space in Camden for great beer, events and good company, and the brewery's name was chosen to resonate with the canal-side history of the area. Beer is brewed in a micro-brewery within the arches, with the taproom offering around ten draft taps alongside wines and spirits and an ever-changing menu. The range has spanned pale ales, a West Coast IPA, a Czech-inspired lager, a porter, a hefeweizen with notes of banana and clove, and a gluten-free option, all available fresh from the source. Beyond pouring pints, the venue runs a varied programme of brewery tours, guided tastings, stand-up comedy and live music. An airy upstairs beer hall overlooking the canal doubles as a private event space for smaller gatherings, holding around 70 standing or 40 seated, and the taproom is dog friendly and open every day of the week. By combining on-site brewing, a canal-side taproom and a calendar of tours and events, 3 Locks Brewing Company offers a relaxed spot to pause after exploring Camden Market. Its blend of working brewery, bar and event space gives it a distinctive place among the area's many drinking destinations and its thriving canal-side scene. Its canal-side terrace is among the more sought-after spots in the market on a warm afternoon.
