Running an all-vinyl music policy across a collection of more than four thousand records, Dead Wax Digbeth is a music-focused bar and live venue in Birmingham's creative Digbeth quarter. Staff and resident DJs spin from the racks, and customers are encouraged to bring along their own records to be played, putting the turntable at the centre of a self-styled "music loving boozer" built around beer, vinyl and pizza. The venue occupies the former Wagon & Horses, a long-standing punk, rock and metal haunt, reopened in November 2024 after a full renovation by Brighton-based operator Laine Pub Co. It launched with a four-day festival featuring around forty-five bands, musicians and DJs drawn from across Birmingham and the Midlands, signalling its intent as a grassroots music destination. Spread across multiple rooms, Dead Wax combines a main bar with a 120-capacity upstairs live-music space and a 230-capacity outdoor courtyard known as the Duck Bath. The result is a flexible venue that hosts regular gigs, club nights, DJ sets and acoustic sessions across a broad range of genres, from indie and rock to soul and electronic. The kitchen serves stone-baked pizza alongside a wide selection of craft beer, including styles from Laine Brew Co, reinforcing the relaxed, vinyl-led atmosphere. Entry to live shows is open to a general audience, with the usual over-eighteens requirement for alcohol, and the venue trades from midday into the late evening and small hours depending on the night. Digbeth is Birmingham's creative and cultural quarter, a district of street art, independent venues and repurposed industrial buildings on the edge of the city centre. By adding a dedicated vinyl bar and grassroots live-music space to the mix, Dead Wax Digbeth has quickly become part of the area's dense and still-expanding nightlife scene.
