Filling a former warehouse of more than twenty thousand square feet off Dumballs Road, close to Cardiff Central station, Depot is the Welsh capital's best-known multi-purpose events space, opened in November 2015. Its raw industrial setting, complete with permanent street-food kitchens, has hosted everything from major gigs and electronic-music takeovers to awards ceremonies, conferences and full-scale immersive shows. The venue is arranged as two interconnected rooms with capacities ranging from around a hundred to two thousand. The smaller Treeside space seats up to two hundred for meetings and private celebrations, while the Main Space holds up to two thousand standing, equipped with a stage, lighting rig, PA system and green-room facilities, and the building is fully accessible with on-site parking and roller-shutter access for large installations. Billing itself as Cardiff's natural home for live music, DJ-led club nights and large-scale events, Depot stages a packed calendar that includes its own sell-out phenomenon Bingo Lingo, a weekly Street Food Social, beer festivals and touring concepts such as Pizza and Prosecco. Two bars and an in-house creative team support a programme that moves easily between gigs, parties and corporate hire. When it opened, Depot was credited as the first venue to give Cardiff a permanent, indoor street-food destination, and food remains central to its identity. It works with a rotating line-up of local street-food traders, typically several at a time, combining their kitchens with entertainment to create its signature themed events. Located a short walk from Cardiff Central along Dumballs Road, within an industrial estate that has steadily become a nightlife destination, Depot describes itself as more than a venue: a creative space where live music, culture and community come together. With state-of-the-art production and a flexible, blank-canvas layout, it has established itself as one of the city's most versatile event spaces.
