Set inside a brick-walled railway arch beside the Regent's Canal in east London, Signature Brew Haggerston is a taproom and live-music venue run by the independent brewery of the same name. Open since late 2018, it brings together fresh beer poured straight from the brewery and a busy schedule of gigs, DJ sets and comedy in one characterful space. The arch holds around a hundred and eighty people and is fitted out with a wood-panelled bar of twelve taps, booth seating, a stage and a full audio-visual setup with industry-standard sound and a projector. A spacious canal-side terrace and a cobbled street frontage add outdoor room in good weather, while floor-to-ceiling windows keep the interior bright by day. Music is central to the venue's identity, and as a Musicians' Union Fair Play venue it offers both headline slots for local bands and support opportunities for touring acts. Despite its modest size it has hosted a remarkable roll-call of names over the years, with the brand's spaces having welcomed the likes of Adele, Yonaka and Bo Ningen, and even a visit from Tony Hawk. Beyond gigs, the venue hosts DJ nights, stand-up comedy, sports screenings and private parties, and has carved out a niche as London's only dedicated space for live-music photography, showing work featuring artists from Foo Fighters to Charli XCX. The combination of a working brewery taproom and a grassroots stage gives it a distinctive, music-first atmosphere. Located on Acton Mews on the corner of Kingsland Road, a five-minute walk from Haggerston Overground, it is easy to reach from across the capital and a natural finish to a canal-side stroll. Serving great beer and great music seven days a week, Signature Brew Haggerston has become a fixture of east London's independent scene. The mix of a working brewery taproom, a canal-side terrace and a packed gig calendar gives the arch a character all its own, equally suited to a quiet pint of fresh beer or a sweaty headline show. As a grassroots venue with serious sound, it punches well above its size in east London.
