In a dedicated 40,000-square-foot purpose-built immersive entertainment complex at the Atlantis The Palm resort on the eastern crescent of the Palm Jumeirah artificial archipelago in Dubai, Dinosaurs - The Immersive Odyssey is one of the largest dinosaur-themed immersive multimedia experiences in the broader Middle East region. The complex opened in March 2024 as part of the broader Atlantis Aquaventure entertainment programme, providing a substantial 90-minute walk-through immersive multimedia experience built around twelve individually themed immersive rooms. The Dinosaurs Immersive Odyssey concept was developed by the Spanish immersive entertainment studio Layers of Reality, which had previously developed similar multimedia immersive attractions in Barcelona, Madrid, Berlin and several other European cities before partnering with the Atlantis Aquaventure ownership group to bring the concept to the United Arab Emirates. The Dubai venue is the largest installation of the broader Layers of Reality dinosaur-themed programme worldwide and includes several themed rooms unique to the Dubai location. The visitor experience unfolds as a continuous narrative journey through the broader 4.5-billion-year history of life on Earth, with each themed immersive room covering a different geological era. The opening Big Bang room introduces the broader narrative through an immersive multimedia presentation covering the broader origin of the universe. Subsequent rooms cover successive geological eras through immersive walk-through multimedia presentations. The Precambrian room covers the broader origin of single-celled life on Earth through immersive projected biomatter imagery on all six surfaces of the room. The Paleozoic room covers the broader explosion of early multicellular life including the dramatic Cambrian-era marine ecosystems. The Mesozoic room (the longest single section of the visit) covers the dramatic dinosaur era with several immersive walk-through environments featuring projected dinosaur imagery synchronised to dramatic audio and environmental effects. The standout single room is the Cretaceous Predators environment, an immersive walk-through forest environment in which visitors are surrounded by life-size projected images of Tyrannosaurus rex, Velociraptor and Spinosaurus moving through the projected landscape. The environment includes synchronised vibration effects in the floor and small atmospheric breeze effects. The visit concludes at a small Dino Lab interactive room where visitors can explore touch-screen displays covering the broader science of palaeontology and a substantial themed retail space.
