Stretching along approximately 2 kilometres of the broader Jumeirah coastline immediately south of the iconic Burj Al Arab hotel, Kite Beach is one of the most heavily visited public beaches in the broader Dubai region and the principal recreational beach for the broader watersports community. The wide white-sand beach is open to the public at no charge and is backed continuously along its full length by a substantial paved beachfront promenade. The beach takes its widely used Kite Beach name from the kitesurfing-and-windsurfing community that has historically used the central beach sections as the principal launch area for the broader Dubai kitesurfing scene. The dramatic open-water conditions of the broader Persian Gulf along the central Dubai coastline (with the relatively shallow continental shelf producing relatively gentle wave conditions and the reliable north-westerly winter and spring breezes providing reliable wind conditions) make the broader Kite Beach area one of the most consistently usable kitesurfing locations in the broader Persian Gulf region. The beach itself is a substantial expanse of imported fine white sand that extends some 60 to 100 metres back from the high-tide line to the back beach edge along its full length. The sand is mechanically groomed daily during the operating season, with the beach maintained as one of the cleanest urban beaches anywhere in the broader Persian Gulf region. The beach is staffed continuously throughout the day by trained lifeguards, with multiple lifeguard stations positioned at regular intervals along the beach length. The standard flag-system warnings indicate the daily water conditions, with the central kitesurfing section closing entirely during periods of unsuitable weather. The substantial paved beachfront promenade running continuously along the full beach length houses several beach-club restaurants, casual food trucks, small surf-equipment retailers, several outdoor gym installations (with free public-use exercise equipment positioned at regular intervals), several outdoor children's playgrounds, free public outdoor showers and clean public restrooms. The dramatic Burj Al Arab hotel rises directly behind the northern beach sections, providing one of the most photographed seafront vistas in the broader Dubai region. The southern beach sections look directly south across the open water toward the dramatic Jumeirah Beach Hotel and the broader Madinat Jumeirah resort complex.
