Mac - CSDA

Crew Photo

There is ongoing debate as to what CSDA actually stands for. So far we have: Chief Systems and Dev Ops Architect, which means all the design and build, not to forget the processes behind making everything and everyone work. Chief Sales and Deal Accelerator. Content, Storytelling and Design Alchemist - which entails not only providing some of the content and stories, but guiding the overall tone of the website. What makes him uniquely placed to achieve these diverse roles? A degree in information systems and a cumulative 5 years of coding experience (spread over 30 years). 25 years of sales experience in various guises and industries. Experience in reviewing, writing, DJing and interviewing mean that the content and storytelling are relatively well covered, the design though remain up for debate. With a musical pedigree that ranges from subjecting his mother to blasting Black Sabbath (borrowed from his father) on the way to u12 cricket practice, to being lucky enough to have his first post school jobs being in Music Stores, to DJing Electro in London Clubs, continued music omnivorence (pretty sure that wasn't a word until now) means that surprisingly wide portion of the music spectrum could be covered. From a writing perspective conversational self deprecating humour is attempted, while forced effrontery like speaking about ones self in third person (or using words like effontry) is only done under the duress of maintaining uniformity.

Redemption Songs Pt 1

The music industry writes its share of tragedy; careers swallowed by obscurity, addiction, or simple bad luck. But buried in those same archives are stories that move in the opposite direction: the forgotten artist rediscovered, the fallen star recla...

Genius Denied Pt 1.

Go down enough rabbit holes and the music industry reveals itself as a graveyard of genius; brilliant, genre-defining artists who shaped much of what we love and received almost nothing in return. Some never knew their own influence. Most never saw a...

Tricky Dicky is best known for the Watergate scandal. Arguably (though don't argue it, them's the rules...) the least successful of the American presidents, certainly the only one not to serve his full term while still being alive, made one of the mo...

State of Play - 6 April 2025

In amongst fixing random bugs, there's been some significant addition of content. For example there are: Baseline countries for all 170 odd, and my fancy flags (yeah had those disc thingies made many many years ago). 10 countries with detai...

People like to categorise, it's part of our pattern seeking brains. And, with the modern access to instruments in general and electronic music in particular there is an astounding variety of music out there to be categorised. But are there really 600...

Vivat Bacchuss is one of my favourite restaurants in London, for oh so many reasons... so in the interests of not showing favouritism, I'm going to be sure to find any weakness they have. Let's start with some the reasons that the are one of my favo...

Argentina is known for their beef, and London is fast becoming known for their Argentinean steak restaurants. Most Londoners have heard of the Gaucho Grill chain, and many will have had a satisfying meal at one of their 9 London restaurants, with thi...

Beotys is a French restaurant specialising in Greek dishes, or perhaps a Greek restaurant with some French dishes. Now the reason for my confusion is that they started life as a French restaurant, well over 60 years ago, and now serve an incredible a...

Eating at Emily's was one of those experiences that I will never forget. It wasn't just the exceptional food, or the monumental wine list. It was the whole experience. We went there on a Friday afternoon, lunch time, but unfortunately they were short...

Interview Picture
Ferry Corsten: an interview that may be old enough to drink!

By: Mac

Date: 08/04/2006

This is one of the few surviving interviews I have from another life. I'm not sure exactly when it was from; sometime between 2003 and 2006. A few things may be interesting, firstly how many other interviews has he done where the same questions are asked, and how the answers have stayed the same or changed through the years. And whether any of the questions have remained unique through all the years that a global superstar has been interviewing. I'd be interested to know how many interviews he's done in the intervening years, infact overall, he'd have done plenty by the time we spoke..... speaking of time, it is always appreciated, regardless of when it was!
