- A Murder Mystery Comedy by Ken Ludwig Christmas Eve, 1936. A glamorous gathering. A mysterious murder. And a house full of suspects! When celebrated Broadway star William Gillette invites his eccentric fellow actors to his magnificent Connecticut mansion for a festive Christmas celebration, the evening promises champagne, laughter, and theatrical extravagance. But when one of the guests is mysteriously murdered, the celebrations take a deadly turn! With a killer on the loose, secrets waiting to unravel and suspicion falling on everyone, Gillette takes it upon himself to play detective — much like his famous stage persona, Sherlock Holmes. What follows is a hilariously bungled investigation filled with outrageous accusations, unexpected twists, mistaken identities and spectacularly comic situations. As the mystery deepens and the absurdity escalates, one thing becomes increasingly clear: solving a murder is considerably harder than acting in one! Set against the glamour of the 1930s, The Game’s Afoot is a deliciously farcical murder mystery comedy that blends suspense, wit, eccentric characters and laugh-out-loud theatrical chaos. A murder most bungled. A mystery most entertaining. And a comedy to die for! Initial Listing and Description provided by Platinumlist.
