Egg London

Founded by Laurence Malice, the impresario behind the trailblazing gay after-hours party Trade, Egg London opened in 2003 inside a converted Victorian warehouse in King's Cross. The name, a nod to the idea of rebirth, suited a venue that helped pioneer all-night clubbing in the capital thanks to a coveted 24-hour weekend licence. Spread across three levels, the club links a main room, middle floor and loft to a series of outdoor terraces, giving it an unusual indoor-outdoor flow. Its music policy leans firmly toward house and techno, though a wider spread of electronic sounds fills its rooms across the week. The weekend licence made it a natural destination for those carrying on long after other clubs had closed their doors. In 2017 it was named Best Large Club at DJ Magazine's Best of British awards, a marker of its standing in the scene. A refit upgraded its sound to a custom rig, reinforcing the focus on audio that has always defined it. A King's Cross stalwart, Egg endures as one of London's key late-night clubs, a multi-level warehouse whose 24-hour licence, sprawling terraces and house-and-techno heart have made it a magnet for the city's dedicated dancers. Long-running club nights and a steady programme of guest DJs have kept it relevant through waves of change in London's nightlife, where its all-night licence remains one of its most prized assets.
