Emily's

Peter Veldsman's Emily's is a South African institution. With it's origins 15 years ago in Woodstock, and, after being invited to do so, moving into the esteemed Clock Tower in the V&A Waterfront 10 years later, it has become one of South Africa's most acclaimed restaurants. Although the restaurant is South African, you will be able to find food from all over Africa, and their search for top ingredients sometimes leads them off the continent, for example serving only the best Norwegian salmon. With decor that is distinctly African, and slightly ship like (Peter's exact words), it is a luxurious and interesting setting whilst still being incredibly comfortable. Not only is Emily one of the top restaurants in the country, but it is also the home of the CAIA, the Culinary Art Institute of Africa which was founded in 1994 by the acclaimed South African gastronome, Peter Veldsman as a hands-on facility to train future chefs, service staff and restaurateurs. Students train in the real-life, public, local and internationally acclaimed restaurant. To date it is the only facility in South Africa to have produced two winners in the annual "Top Ten Restaurant Awards".
