Allegiant Stadium

A sleek black dome rising beside the Las Vegas Strip, Allegiant Stadium is the climate-controlled home of the Las Vegas Raiders football team and a marquee venue for concerts and major events. Completed in 2020, the fully enclosed stadium seats around sixty-five thousand and was built to bring professional football to the desert city, quickly becoming a glittering addition to its skyline. The stadium marked the long-awaited relocation of the Raiders, a storied franchise that moved from the Bay Area to Las Vegas, and its arrival cemented the city's rapid emergence as a major centre for professional sport. Its striking design, a smooth dark shell topped by a translucent roof, allows it to be sealed and air-conditioned against the desert heat, an essential feature in a place where summer temperatures soar. Inside, the building boasts a host of distinctive features, including a towering torch honouring the team's late owner, a retractable natural-grass field that rolls outside into the sun, and vast windows at one end that frame views of the famous Strip. Beyond football, it serves as home to a university team and hosts some of the biggest names in music, along with championship games and special events drawn to the entertainment capital. Its position moments from the Strip places it at the heart of the city's tourism and nightlife, easily folded into a wider Las Vegas visit. For visitors the stadium is principally an events venue, with tickets sold by game or show and guided tours offered on select days. It stands just west of the Strip, reachable on foot from some resorts and by shuttle and rideshare, and its dramatic design and high-profile events have made it a landmark of the modern city. Among its most talked-about features is a retractable natural-grass field that rolls out of the building into the sunshine when not in use, an unusual solution for growing turf inside a sealed dome. A towering memorial torch honouring the franchise's late owner burns within the bowl, and the vast glass wall framing the Strip ties the stadium to the spectacle of the city beyond, making it as much a Las Vegas attraction as a sporting venue.
