Among the most beloved free spectacles in Las Vegas, the Fountains of Bellagio send jets of water dancing high into the air above a vast lake in choreographed shows set to music and light. The fountains have become a symbol of the modern Strip, featured in films and a fixture of nearly every visitor's itinerary. For visitors the fountains are completely free, viewable from the public sidewalk and bridges along the Strip as well as from nearby restaurants and balconies. They sit in front of the Bellagio resort at the heart of the boulevard, easily reached on foot, and are at their most spectacular after dark, when the water and lights combine to dramatic effect. Powerful programmable jets, some capable of launching water hundreds of feet into the air, sway and soar in precise time to each piece of music, lit dramatically after dark for maximum effect. Because the shows run frequently and last only a few minutes, a short wait at the railing almost always rewards passers-by, and the spectacle has become one of the most photographed and filmed free attractions anywhere in the city.
