Unspecified/General
Some ten miles north-west of downtown Atlanta, in the suburban community of Cumberland in Cobb County, Truist Park is the home of the Atlanta Braves baseball franchise. The ballpark opened on 31 March 2017 as SunTrust Park, replacing Turner Field in the city itself, and took its current name in 2020 following the bank merger that created Truist Financial. Designed by the noted stadium architects at Populous and built at a cost of roughly six hundred million dollars, it ranks among the most modern and intimately scaled ballparks in Major League Baseball. The intimacy is deliberate. With a capacity of 41,084 the park is one of the smaller venues in the league, drawing the seating tighter around the diamond and bringing fans markedly closer to the action than older multi-purpose stadiums allowed. What distinguishes Truist Park from its peers is the surrounding development. The ballpark sits at the heart of The Battery Atlanta, a purpose-built mixed-use district of restaurants, bars, shops, hotels, offices and apartments that surrounds the venue and transforms it from a single-use stadium into a year-round neighbourhood, busy on game days and beyond. Inside, premium clubs, an open-air central plaza, family entertainment zones and a long roster of regional food vendors line the concourses. A Braves Hall of Fame and a celebrated bronze statue of Henry Aaron honour the franchise's long history, which stretches from Boston and Milwaukee through more than half a century in Atlanta. The ballpark also hosts major concerts and special events through the year. For visitors, Truist Park offers a comfortable, contemporary baseball experience set in a pedestrian-friendly entertainment district, and a chance to see one of the most thoughtfully integrated stadium developments of the modern era. A wide range of seating options, premium clubs and behind-the-scenes ballpark tours give visitors plenty of ways to experience the venue. With easy access from the highway, ample parking, family-friendly attractions and a packed entertainment district on its doorstep, Truist Park has quickly established itself as one of the most enjoyable destinations in the Atlanta metropolitan area.
